Clothing for ATV
ATV clothing ? [TOP QUALITY] | MEFOA QUAD BIKE IS NOT MOTORCYCLE, OR ... ?
Riding an ATV is similar to riding a motorcycle in many ways and completely different in others. But what they both have in common is clothing, you can't do without it. So let's take a look at the best way to dress for quad biking.
So let's be clear about what you are legally required to have on a quad bike. A quad bike can have classic white plates, then you need a helmet and eye protection just like on a motorbike. However, there is also the option where the quad bike has what is known as 'tractor' approval and has yellow plates. In that case you don't need a helmet, but we still strongly recommend it! Of course, if you're loading wood in the forest and riding a few metres, you don't need a helmet, but anything can happen on a longer ride.
So it mainly depends on how and where you ride. But sturdy boots are essential. That's something that's essential whether you're working or going on an expedition. They have to hold your ankle well, but they also have to be comfortable to walk in. Of course, waterproofing is also important, because ATVs are not afraid of fords and water. Ankle-deep in a ford you don't even know how. Another important thing is knee pads. Riding an ATV is full of tilts and kicks from the ground, because 4 wheels simply hit more bumps. And a bumped knee from the tank can hurt like hell. Then of course it's the rider's choice whether to have the pads directly on the leg, which is ideal but less comfortable, or sewn into the pants.
And then there's the helmet. There are a number of styles to choose from, my personal favourite being the Jet Aria, which combines good protection and visibility under the wheels. Plus, it's good for work too, the helmet is comfortable and you don't even know you're wearing it. If you want a closed helmet, it's not a bad idea to reach for an enduro helmet with Plexiglas, which you can ride comfortably on the road.
The clothing itself must then be appropriate for the conditions in which you are riding. Rain protection is important, ideally in the form of a membrane that you won't sweat under. For expeditions, some sort of enduro travel kit that also includes shoulder and elbow pads is ideal. In the summer, a motocross jersey will serve you well.
Finally, let's look at one very important thing that many quad riders neglect, and that is back protection. When a four-metre machine rolls over them, you can probably imagine what it can do to you. But by then it's too late. Personally, I just don't ride without a back protector, and it doesn't matter if it's on the road or in rough terrain. Again, there are several options. It can be standalone, or maybe as part of a shell and a spine protector shirt. Any option is good and you really need to take care of it because spinal injuries are very serious, painful and most importantly can have permanent consequences and we certainly don't want that!
Whether you ride off-road, on the road, enjoy expeditions, or hauling wood from the forest, I wish you many happy miles in comfort and safety!
